holy frijoles.
from the files of "things i thought i would never see".
the freakin patriots. i can't believe that i don't live in boston right now. i spent 23 years waiting for something like this. and i can't believe it.
i am honestly confused. they said the whole world changed after 9/11. maybe they were right. dogs and cats living in sin. the yankees lose the world series. hockey in hell. and now this?
the PATRIOTS?
what's next? will the bruins win the stanley cup this year? is this the year of the red sox? are the curses over?
i am scared for the future of our country when a team from boston had a prime opportunity to break the hearts of new enlganders everywhere...they actually won.
i was absolutley convinced even in that last moment, that they would lose. that would have been so typically bostonian. such ultimate suffering.
keep in mind, for those of you who live in cities where good things
actually happen to your sports teams. this is not only not normal for
the pats, this is bizarro world.
* the red sox have not won the world series since 1918. yes. NINETEEN
EIGHTEEN.
* when the bruins last won the stanley cup, i was still in diapers.
* the celts won when i was in high school. then they sucked.
* the pats have never won.
in addition to this, keep in mind that the whole time boston waited
for some small victory, we got our asses kicked in some pretty
spectacular ways. in 1986, the pats lost 42-10. and that ain't no
typo. the bruins get into the cup playoffs on a regular basis and
then get swept. i can't recall the number of times they got swept. i
hang onto a broom when i watch them in playoff mode. and the red sox.
oy. nevermind bill buckner. they've broken hearts since 1918, every
fucking year.
so here. here was an opportunity for the pats to go down in history
as the best boston loss ever. i bet bill buckner was DYING for them
to lose. take some of the pressure off...
losing like that would have been SO typically new england.
but no. in a completely uncharacteristic way...they actually won.
and i honestly don't have a clue what happens next.
