lissen. just because i happen to love new york city and think it is the best place for me and for my family, does not mean that i a) cannot love any other place b) cannot be FROM another place and c) cannot talk about another place without betraying my city. which. yes. is NEW YORK.

second of all. i do not think everyone needs to live here. rents are high enough as they are thankyouverymuch. and besides, aside from the "9-11 we are all new yorkers" bullshit*, we are all well aware that half the country wishes this city would drop into the ocean.

which is fine by me. not the part about it dropping into the ocean. the part about everyone hating NYC. that's fine.

what i do not need is people dictating what i should and should not write about and whether or not i have a right to "claim" to be from someplace else.

i am what i am. i am from new england. i live in new york. period. i don't "claim" to be from new england any more than i "claim" to be a woman.

as for the post that started this whole mischegos. i never said anywhere in there that i am a bostonian, that "we" won the super bowl, or that i am undecided as to who i am.

i am a woman who was raised in new england, who chose to move to new york city, and who goes home to cape cod.

any further questions as to my self-identification?

* which, by the way, i suspect is the root of the original guestbook post's problem - all the bandwagon jumpers for the Pats who never cared until last weekend. and you know, I DON'T LIKE THOSE FOLKS EITHER. but the reality is, there are people who do it all over the place and they have just as much right to be happy as anyone else. when the Bruins win someday, i will be happy to celebrate with the new fans and the old.
