if you've been reading then you know how i feel about being jewish, about america, about 9-11, and about what it means to be jewish in the world. gingi and i have had more than a few discussions about this. but today. well. look here. i, of course, have to read back in this woman's diary to see what her deal is. i couldn't get past the most recent entry where she seems to not get the way car rental companies and the insurance industry deal with statistics. or really, anyone. i could argue all sorts of points about her inability to understand all sorts of things. like that there are biological things men cannot understand about women. like cramps. sorry. just like i will never understand what it is like to get a boner, they cannot understand menstrual cramps. but i digress. what gnaws at me is that this singular thought process came out of someone's education system. i mean. is THIS the level of analysis we should expect from the average person in america? no analytical skills, just emotional blather? i fear for our nation more every day.

as an example, if she had just flipped her post, it might have even made sense. well. the part about christianity being the default anyway, not the idiot other stuff about shoving judaism in people's faces...
if she had said "personally, i think the default should be neutral, but for many people in the united states, christianity is the default because that is what they know and in many areas, jews are simply not there. in utah, for example, mormon is the default..." it would have been an actual argument.
but no. she brings in who founded this country? nevermind that if we're talking about this country's roots, we should all assume native american religions as the default. but wait. that would require thinking about what you're saying before you say it. nevermind.
