a few random things.

i totally forgot about the heat in the south. i could have NEVER managed to be pregnant in arizona. it was over 100 degrees more than 6 months of the year. no matter when i gave birth, i would have been incredibly uncomfortable for at least a trimester. which makes me think. i wonder if more babies are born in the south in spring. if i were planning and i lived in a hot climate, i would try and get knocked up in july so i would be in my first trimester during the big heat.

i also want to say that if i offended any of my southern readers, i'm sorry. see. cubicle girl and i have an ongoing joke...about 5 endless years now. about the south and the north and the war of northern agression and how she hangs out at the holler when she goes home.

it always reminds me of the first time we met face to face. and went (can you believe this?) to montreal together and then i brought her - a near stranger - to my parents' house on cape cod.

we bonded over tra-la-la-la-triangle once we got out of massachusetts and we found common musical ground. we ate mammoth rice krispie treats, danced on the roadside, drank beer where phish got their start, and somewhere between burlington vermont and montreal, i learned to love me some country. specifically, mr. sammy kershaw and his perfect song "queen of my double wide trailer".

by the time we met up with the other imaginary internet people, we couldn't sing or talk. we'd lost our voices around the border.

we spent two hysterically funny days together, then drove home. it took weeks to get out of canadia - they don't post signs clearly there. i would think they would be eager to get rid of americans and plainly post signs. but no. they made it really complex.

we drove home laughing the whole way.

and went to my parents' house. sometime in the next two days we took my mother's convertible out. and spotted a car with kentucky plates with the county next to cubiclegirl. and i shouted "southern" things at them in hopes that they would slow down. i shouted "ms. june" and "chuckwagons" and "grits".

for me, this is somehow an okay joke. it was funny then and it's funny to CG now. but i didn't think about it not being funny for everyone.

so i apologize for the tone. it was meant to humor CG and not offend.

love,

yankee bitch
